Who we are
About My Dentist Brooklyn
My Dentist Brooklyn is an independent consumer guide — not a dental practice. We don't provide treatment, diagnose problems, or book appointments, and we're not owned by or affiliated with any single dentist or clinic.
Why we built this
Dental care in America is confusing and expensive. Prices swing by hundreds of dollars from one block to the next, insurance jargon is impenetrable, and a surprising number of people simply avoid the dentist because they don't know what things cost or how to pay for them. We built My Dentist Brooklyn to fix that for our corner of the world: Brooklyn and the wider New York City area.
Our goal is simple — give New Yorkers honest, clear, useful information so they can make smart decisions about their teeth and their money. That means real dollar figures, plain-English explanations of insurance, and a frank look at every option, including the ones the industry doesn't advertise.
What we cover
- Finding a dentist in Brooklyn by insurance, neighborhood and need.
- Real costs for everything from cleanings to implants, in US dollars.
- Dental insurance — PPO vs HMO, maximums, waiting periods, and what's actually covered.
- Options without insurance — savings plans, financing, community clinics, dental schools.
- NY Medicaid dental coverage and how to use it.
- Emergencies and what to do when something goes wrong.
- Dental work abroad — covered honestly, for the patients facing the biggest bills.
How we keep it honest
We're an information resource, so our incentives are aligned with yours: we want you to find the right care at a fair price. We don't take referral fees to push you toward a particular office, and we clearly label anything that's a sponsored or affiliate relationship. When we mention specific clinics or services — including dental-tourism options abroad — we do it as examples to help your research, with the consistent reminder to do your own due diligence and consult a licensed dentist.
Our editorial standards
Dental and health information is "your money or your life" content, so we hold it to a high standard. We base our pricing on typical, current US market ranges; we explain the American system accurately (the ADA, US insurance structures, NY Medicaid — not the NHS or other systems); and we update guides as costs and coverage rules change. Everything here is general information, not a substitute for a personal exam by a licensed dentist.
A note on what we're not
To be crystal clear: we are not a clinic. There is no Dr. So-and-so taking patients here, no chair, no address you can book. If a website ever claims to be "your Brooklyn dentist" while only offering articles, be skeptical. We'd rather be a trustworthy guide than pretend to be something we're not.
